At Boston College, an AP Statistics exam score of 5 fulfills the statistic credit requirement but does not count toward course credit. Because this course does not count as credit, it would simply be replaced with another class. Therefore, even a score of 5 on the AP Statistics exam saves no cost for tuition.
At the University of Michigan, an AP Statistics exam score of 4+ earns me 4 college credits. This does not count toward a requirement. An AP Statistics score of 4+ saves me approximately $6,000.
Babson College gives 4 credits to a score of 4+ on the AP Statistics exam. This is equivalent to the course QTM 1000 (Quantitative Methods). It will save no cost for tuition.
Bryant University gives out 3 credits for a score of 3+ on the AP Exam. This is equivalent to the course MATH 201. This will save me the price of the course in tuition.
It is interesting that both the colleges are willing to give out credits for the same value scored on the test, however, they differ in their rules for tuition. Babson College surprises me because I thought that if you test out of a class then it would alter and lower your tuition.
At WPI, a 4+ on the AP Stats exam gives 1 math class credit, which is the equivalent of the course MA2611.
At Seattle University, a score of 3+ on the AP Stats exam gets you 5 credits that can be used as the equivalent of ECON260, NURS350, or MATH141, depending on your intended major. For me it would take care of MATH141.
The credits at both of these schools are different from the typical 3 or 4 credit classes, but they both cover a typical college stats class.
At the University of Maryland, an AP Statistics exam score of a 4 or a 5 earns me 3 college credits for STAT100, which counts towards the general education requirements for Fundamental Studies Mathematics and Fundamental Studies Analytic Reasoning. This score will allow me to take more courses directly related to my major, or alternative elective courses.
At the University of Massachusetts Amherst, an AP Statistics exam score of 3, 4, or 5 earns me 3 credits and/or credit for Stats:240. This score will also allow me to take more courses directly related to my major, or a higher level math or statistics class.
Interesting that the University of Maryland requires a higher score on the AP test but awards the same number of credits at the University of Massachusetts Amherst.
At Umass Lowell and AP Statistics exam score of 3, 4 or 5 earns me three college credit and credit for Intro to Stats (92.283). A year is about 18 credits and a year of tuition is about $2,181 so it would save me about $363.50.
At Drexel University an AP Statistics exam score of a 4+ earns me 4 college credits and qualifies as STAT201. Tuition is about $35,135.00 for the 5 year undergraduate program, about 18 credits per term, about $1,951.94 per credit. I would save about $7,807.78.
Interesting that at Drexel you are placed out of the introductory stats class if you get a score of 4 or better and saves you a decent amount of the tuition. I like how you calculated out how much you would save.
At Northeastern University, a score on the AP Statistics exam of a 4 or better earns 4 credits and is the equivalent of the Math 2280 course offered at the university.
At the University of Denver, students with a score of a 4 or 5 on the AP Statistics exam are rewarded 4 credit hours and a better standing or ability to place out of the Info 1020 course.
At both universities, getting a score of 4 or better on the AP Statistics exam would benefit me by allowing me to place out of basic introductory courses, allowing me to take more major specific courses and possibly allow me to fulfill credit requirements to study abroad earlier.
I thought it was interesting that getting a higher score on the Stats exam could allow you to study abroad earlier. This opportunity is definitely an incentive for students to do well on their AP exam, especially if a better score can also help you take major-specific courses.
It is interesting that at Providence a higher score earns less credits (score of 4 earns 3 credits), while at Miami University a lower score earns more credits (score of 3 earns 4 credits).
At Clemson University, they offer credits for AP scores that score a 3 or higher. If you score a 3 on the AP stats test then they offer you 3 credits which is equivalent to the MTHS 2030 course.
At University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida, they also offer credits for AP scores, however, the AP stats test is not an option. They only take certain tests that you can use your credits for. For example, if you take the AP Biology test and score a 3, then you receive 3 credits and is equivalent to the BIL 101 course. It is interesting that the school only accepts certain AP scores.
At Northeastern they offer credit for ap scores that are above a four. You would get four credits if you got a four on the exam which is equivalent to a MATH2280 class. it would save me around $1,000.
At SNHU they offer 3 credit whic is equivalent to a math-240 class if you get more than a three on the test. That would save me about $700. One thing I noticed was that SNHU required at least a three on its exams while Northeastern required at least a four. This makes sense because Northeastern is a higher ranking school than SNHU.
I think it's interesting that the score needed to get credit for taking ap stats is also the amount of credits it would take care of in college. It's also nice that it would save you a bunch of money at either school, especially if other ap classes you took are accepted there.
At MCPHS University, a score of a 4+ on the AP Stats exam would give me 3 credits that would normally be earned by taking MAT261 (Statistics) in my second year. Since the tuition at MCPHS is a flat rate determined by the medical program you are enrolled in, this credit would not save me any money, but it would allow me to take another 3 credit course sooner rather than later, or to have a little extra spare time in my second year.
At Simmons College, a 4+ on the AP Stats exam would give me 3 credits that would normally be earned by taking Introductory Statistics; by my calculations, the credits at Simmons are about $1,200, so a 4+ on the Stats exam would save me about $3,600. However, for my specific program (physical therapy doctorate), no AP credit (for statistics or any other subject) is accepted, so even if I got a 5 on the AP Stats exam, I would still have to take Statistics at Simmons and I would not save any money.
At University of Vermont a score of 4 or 5 will earn me 3 credits, equivalent to the course Stats 111 or Stats 141 respectively. Either score would save me around 1,000 dollars.
At Gordon College, a score of 4 or 5 will give me 4 credits, equivalent to the course MAT220 Biostatistics. This would also save me just over 1,000 dollars.
It is very valuable (no pun intended) that a score of a 4 or higher on the exam would benefit you both scholastically and financially. A school willing to reward you with money and more freedom in your courses definitely deserves heavy consideration.

At University of South Carolina an AP score of 3 or 4 earns me 3 credits for stat 110. A score of 5 earns me credits for stat 110 and stat 201. If I get a 3 or better at both schools it will allow me to take classes more related to my major. I could not find how much money this would save me.
At Muhlenberg College in PA a score of a 4 on the AP Stats exam earns 1 college credit for Math 104. Emerson College, however, is more generous. At Emerson, a student who earns the same score of 4 on the exam earns 4 credits. A 4 or better on the exam would allow me to take more classes that are relevant to my major, which is fortunate, though I could not find the financial value of such a performance.
That makes sense that Muhlenberg offers less credit than Emerson, as an arts and communication school its probably less focused on academics than a liberal arts college.
Temple University grants full credit for a score of 3 or above, but I could not find how many credits the statistics course at Temple is (probably 3 or 4). I won't be saving any money due to the scholarship I received, but the time I would be saving from not taking another Gen Ed can be devoted to practicing, gigging, etc. Boston University, another school I was considering, awards 4 credits for a score of 4 or 5.

At Wake Forest University, a 5 must be earned on the AP statistics test in order to receive credit for the math class MTH 109. The chances I get a 5 on the AP test are not high, therefore I don't think I will receive a 5 or save any money. At Clemson University, they offer credits for AP scores that score a 3 or higher. If you score a 3 on the AP stats test then they offer you 3 credits which is equivalent to the MTHS 2030 course.
It is very interesting that you have to get a 5 to receive credits at Wake Forest which is not very generous. However seems to be more generous with their credits so that is good.
A 5? Wow that's high! That's too bad that your AP scores have to be so prestigious to get ANY credit! Not even a 4 would help, that's unbelievable! I guess if you score as a as a 4 on the exam though, then that class you have to take will be a breeze! At least Clemson is a little bit more lenient with their credits. Good luck with both!
At Loyola University Maryland, a score of at least a 3 or 4 (varying by subject) is required to earn credits at the school. The number of credits that a student can receive from AP exams ranges from 3 to 8 credits. UConn offers credits for students who scored a 4 or higher on the AP exam. The only exam that a student can get credits for getting a 3 is Calculus BC.
That's interesting that the only AP test you can receive credits for at UCONN by scoring a 3 or higher on is Calculus BC. You would think if they give credits for one AP test they would do the same for others.

By not having to take these math classes I can replace the free blocks with more business courses which is what I want to go into.
At the University of Hartford, an AP Statistics exam score of 3 or higher would earn me 3 credits which would exempt me from taking math 114. It would not save me any money on tuition. At Elon University, an AP Statistics score or 4 would earn me "4 hours" which I'm guessing means credits and would exempt me from taking math 112. It would not save me any money from tuition.
At Boston University, an AP Stats Exam score of 4+ earns me 4 college credits and exempts me from taking Statistics 1. At UConn, a score of 4+ earns me 3 credits and exempts me from taking Statistics Q 1000-level.

At Endicott College, there is no policy for Advanced Placement classes. This leads me to believe that you will not receive any college credits for any grade on any AP Exam. Therefore, you will not earn any tuition off no matter how well you do on your AP Exam.

It is interesting that some test earn credits but others do not at Tufts University. Also, i find it interesting that at Penn State some 3's are accepted.
Northeastern requires an AP score of 4 or higher in order to earn college credits. At Clemson University an AP Statistics score of 3 or higher will qualify for 3 hours of credits. At northeastern this will not save me money however I can probably get out of a math elective if I qualify.
At All California state Colleges an AP score of 3+ on the test will result in exemption from STATS, and earn full credits. this will save the cost of one class the price will vary between schools.
At All California Universities you need to achieve a 4 or 5 on the test and this will relieve me of the cost of one class.
At the University of Vermont, a score of 4 on an Elements of Statistics AP exam would earn me 3 college credits. A score of 5 on on a Basic Statistical Methods AP exam would earn me 3 college credits. The cost of these credits is not clear, so I'm not sure how much I'd save or not save in tuition. At Colby College, as score of 4 or 5 on a Statistics AP exam would earn me 3 credits. The cost of credits is not clear, so again I'm not sure how much money I would save or not save in tuition.
At MIT, there is no credit given to AP stats at all. A score of 4 or 5 on Calculus AB will not result in any credit, but you can be placed into an advanced Calc class. Also, a score of 4 or 5 on Calc BC with result in 12 units of credit (not sure about units of credit).
At Harvard, a score of a 5 on AP Stats will result in only half of a credit (not sure how their credits work). A score of 5 on Calc BC results in one credit, where a 5 on Calc AB results in Half of a credit.
Students do not receive any help on tuition as a result of good AP scores.
At NCSU a score of a 3,4, or 5 on a AP Statistics exam results in three hours of credits in ST 311 for non statistics majors. On the AP Calculus AB exam a score of 3 places you in MA 241 or 231 and upon completion of the course with a C- or greater four hours of credit for MA 141 will be awarded. It would not affect tuition.
At Clemson if you score a 3 or higher you will be given credits, for AP Statistics you will earn three credits for a score of 3. This will not help your tuition though.

Its good that your schools take AP credit for stats. MIT does not give any credit at all for Stats.

I think it is odd how Endicott does not have an AP policy. I though it was a common thing for all colleges to accept.

It is interesting that some test earn credits but others do not at Tufts University. Also, i find it interesting that at Penn State some 3's are accepted.

DeleteNortheastern requires an AP score of 4 or higher in order to earn college credits. At Clemson University an AP Statistics score of 3 or higher will qualify for 3 hours of credits. At northeastern this will not save me money however I can probably get out of a math elective if I qualify.

ReplyDeleteAt All California state Colleges an AP score of 3+ on the test will result in exemption from STATS, and earn full credits. this will save the cost of one class the price will vary between schools.
ReplyDeleteAt All California Universities you need to achieve a 4 or 5 on the test and this will relieve me of the cost of one class.
At the University of Vermont, a score of 4 on an Elements of Statistics AP exam would earn me 3 college credits. A score of 5 on on a Basic Statistical Methods AP exam would earn me 3 college credits. The cost of these credits is not clear, so I'm not sure how much I'd save or not save in tuition. At Colby College, as score of 4 or 5 on a Statistics AP exam would earn me 3 credits. The cost of credits is not clear, so again I'm not sure how much money I would save or not save in tuition.
ReplyDeleteAt MIT, there is no credit given to AP stats at all. A score of 4 or 5 on Calculus AB will not result in any credit, but you can be placed into an advanced Calc class. Also, a score of 4 or 5 on Calc BC with result in 12 units of credit (not sure about units of credit).
ReplyDeleteAt Harvard, a score of a 5 on AP Stats will result in only half of a credit (not sure how their credits work). A score of 5 on Calc BC results in one credit, where a 5 on Calc AB results in Half of a credit.
Students do not receive any help on tuition as a result of good AP scores.
It is interesting that MIT does not give credits for AP Stats but does for Calculus BC.
DeleteAt NCSU a score of a 3,4, or 5 on a AP Statistics exam results in three hours of credits in ST 311 for non statistics majors. On the AP Calculus AB exam a score of 3 places you in MA 241 or 231 and upon completion of the course with a C- or greater four hours of credit for MA 141 will be awarded. It would not affect tuition.
ReplyDeleteAt Clemson if you score a 3 or higher you will be given credits, for AP Statistics you will earn three credits for a score of 3. This will not help your tuition though.
